Hello, friends!

I’m SO excited for this month’s Create and Share Challenge!

For this installment, 19 of my blogging pals and I teamed up with GraphicStock, an amazing storehouse of graphics, photos, and other creative content. Our challenge was to create a home decor project with one of the graphics.

Just look at all of the creative loveliness!

January 2016 Create & Share

My Story

I spent hours perusing the over 300,000 photos, illustrations, vectors, and other design elements from GraphicStock. So much graphic goodness!

You can learn more about GraphicStock here.

I finally settled on two images which would make the perfect Valentine’s Day projects. I just couldn’t pick one {kind of like those potato chips}. :0)

But what to put that image on?

First, I must digress. Just a little. #ipromise

“My name is Tiffany, and I have so many craft and DIY projects in my house, that it looks like a flea market took up permanent residence.”

I’m that girl.

After packing up my Christmas decorations…and adding yet another box to the already teetering pile {cue Hubs rolling his eyes}, I decided it was time to start re-purposing, multi-purposing, and adding tri-season options to my massive stockpile of DIY and craft projects.

Which brings us to today’s project!

DIY Heart Candle Holders

As I rummaged around the house trying to decide which item to add a little flair to, I caught sight of my Winter Wonderland Mason Jar Candle Holders. Aha! An idea popped into my head. And it would add multi-seasonal value to my jars.

You can see the Winter Wonderland Mason Jar Candle Holders tutorial here.

After the Winter Wonderland post went live, I actually created two additional candle holders out of clean, empty candle jars. I decided those were my best option for this project considering I wanted a flat surface on which to paint.

I removed the Christmas details {the black and white bakers twine and the felt holly}, cleaned the outside of the jars with glass cleaner, then set them aside.

I downloaded the heart image I’d chosen from GraphicStock (you can see it HERE), then I pulled it into my Silhouette Cameo software and found a tutorial for tracing images by searching YouTube. I followed this tutorial from Sarah of The Spicy Pinecone.

After following the steps in Sarah’s tutorial, I ended up with this.

I resized the image, then sent it to the Silhouette Cameo. I had it cut on white vinyl and used both the heart and the negative space as stencils. Snazzy, right?!

I used a gold, oil based Sharpie Paint Pen that I had on hand to paint polka dots around the heart stencil and color in the negative space of the heart.

I love how the oil paint makes the heart look like it was sketched!

I taped off half of the heart, then filled it with gold glitter.

Once the glitter glue was dry, I added a few self-adhesive pearls to give it a little extra zing!

And that was that for my jars!

A FREE Printable for YOU

I’d also fallen in love {pun intended} with this floral heart image, so I decided to put together a printable for you!

I downloaded it, then edited it in Picmonkey. So easy and SO much fun!
