Winter Wonderland Mason Jar Candle Holder

Final Collage 2

Hi, friends! Welcome back to the Holiday Craft Party!

Holiday Craft Party Day 3 ~ Mason Jars

This is Day 3, and it’s packed with Mason Jar crafts and inspiration.

I have to be honest…I sort of stumbled onto this project on accident. You see, I was making my ornament for the 2015 Ornament Exchange, but we had run out of paper cups {thank you, kids!}. So, I was searching for something to hold my ornament while the paint on the inside dripped out. I ended up using this Mason Jar.

As I was trying to get the paint to cover the entire ornament, I moved the ornament and the jar together {to avoid any drips} to get the paint to cover fully. This is what it looked after that, without the snow, of course.

After the ornament was dry, I went to wash the Mason Jar, but as I looked at it, I decided I really liked the pattern of the red paint in the bottom.

Then all of a sudden, it hit me! The perfect project for Day 3 of the Holiday Craft Party: a Winter Wonderland Mason Jar Candle Holder! And I already had a start on the project. #WinWin

So, enough soul baring and truth telling. Let’s get to the tutorial! :0)

How to Create a Winter Wonderland Mason Jar Candle Holder

Let’s start by rounding up the supplies we’ll need.

Supplies

  • Mason Jar in Your Preferred Size
  • Red Paint {I used Americana Multi-Surface Satin in Dark Scarlet from Hobby Lobby}
  • Fake Snow or Clear Glitter
  • Pea Gravel {Optional}
  • Bakers Twine
  • Embellishments
  • Candle

I had all of these supplies hanging around the house, so it didn’t cost me a thing! If you get your creativity on, I’ll bet you could make it for cheap or FREE!

The How-To

As I mentioned earlier, my jar already had a nice rolling design with red paint.

If yours doesn’t, just put a pea-sized drop of paint in the bottom of your Mason Jar and move the jar around until you’re happy with the look of the paint. You may need to add more paint, but be careful not to add too much or your jar will take forever to dry.

Let the paint dry fully.

Add any details or embellishments your crafty heart desires!

I wrapped black and white bakers twine around the mouth of my jar, then tied it in a bow. I also added a felt holly bough and adhered it with a glue dot.

Then add the snow or glitter. I only had one bottle of glitter. In order to avoid having to run back to the craft store {I’ve spent so much time at the craft store the past 10 days that the employees know me by name}, I added a layer of pea gravel below the glitter.

Wipe down the outside of your jar with a good glass cleaner.

Finally, add your candle, light it, and stare at the awesomeness that is your Winter Wonderland Mason Jar Candle Holder! #CraftRockStar #Again #ImInAweOfYourSkills :0)

    I have a questions, is that real candel or fake? And will the glitter or fake snow not get burn if you use real candle?

    Thanks! 🙂
