Hi, friends! I’m excited to welcome you back to another installment in the Create & Share series. I joined up with a few of my blogging pals, and we each finished a wooden tray in our own style. I can’t wait to see all of the creative takes on this project!
But first, here’s my take…
A Grain Sack Stripe Inspired Tray
This is how the tray looked when I received it.
You can grab a tray for yourself on Amazon HERE.
I gave it a quick sanding with my orbital sander and 150 grit sandpaper.
I used a small piece of sandpaper to sand the handle.
After I finished sanding, I wiped the tray down and stained it using English Chestnut from Minwax, being careful to wipe off any excess stain (otherwise the wood gets sticky).
I let the tray sit over night, then taped my first stripe. I painted it with white chalk paint.
Note to self: trying to take cell phone pics in the garage? Not a good idea! #badblogger
Can I just say I love this ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape with Edge-Lock from 3M?! As long as I went over it with my finger and ensured a good seal, I didn’t have any paint bleeding beneath the tape. #YeahBaby
Look at that beautiful, straight line!!!
I did a little measuring for my second stripes, so that they’d be as straight as possible.
After the paint on the second set of stripes was dry, I removed the tape.
I love how this tray turned out! And it’s perfect for the fall!
I put it on my living room coffee table and added a few fall touches.
My dachshund, Jules, felt the need to supervise. :0)
I also tried propping the tray on the dining room shelves.
I can’t decide which I like best! ;0)
Now, let’s go check out what my blogging pals did with their trays!
Thanks for joining me today!
