Fall Tablescape & DIY Favors

Seven bloggers share some fall fun in this month's Create & Share: Fall Tablescape & DIY Favors | The House Down the Lane

Can I just say that I LOVE fall?! The gorgeous colors, the cooler temperatures, pulling my boots out of their boxes, wearing my sweaters…

I’m just a little excited! :0) And today’s post, a Fall Tablescape & DIY Favors, is the perfect way to get this fall party started!

But before we jump in I wanted to tell you more about why today’s post is extra special! I’ve teamed up with six other bloggers, and we’re ALL posting our own fall tablescapes and DIY projects. How fun is that?!

Links to all of the other projects are below!

Now that you’ve got the scoop, let’s get to my projects!

The Tablescape

I started this tablescape by putting down a length of kraft and white polka dotted wrapping paper that I picked at HomeGoods for a couple of dollars. I love the country charm it adds to the table! I added burlap ribbon in a wide length.

I knew I wanted a rich wood touch on this table, so I took two pieces of pallet of wood, sanded them until smooth, then stained them with Minwax Wood Finish in English Chestnut.

I centered the two pieces of wood on the burlap ribbon.

This is such a gorgeous color, dark but not too dark with hints of red! We loved it so much that we used it for another project in our dining room {that you’ll hopefully see here on the blog soon}. *fingers crossed*

Now it was time for the fun part: adding all of the details!

I placed a vintage sewing table drawer in the middle of the table and filled it with a couple of my favorite vintage books, fall leaves, green apples, and a few sprigs of dried Baby’s Breath {I love the gorgeous cream color it takes on when it dries}.

I also added a white cake stand with a pitcher and fall floral, another white pitcher with a couple of Pheasant feathers in it, a wire basket filled with faux pears, and two glass candleholders and rust-colored candles. I accented with more Baby’s Breath.

I put four quick and easy napkin rings together with toilet paper tubes, burlap and lace ribbon, and a hot glue gun. BTW, call me Agent J…I no longer have fingerprints {thank you hot glue!}. :0)

The Favors

The favors I made for this table are fun and easy, too! And there are tons of ways to personalize them for your style and event!

Fall Stamps

Ink Pads in Your Choice of Colors

Border Punch

Linen Thread or Cord {Like This One}

Twigs

Treats to Put Inside the Bag

#1

Trim the bag down to 5″ x 3 1/2″ and use a border punch to add a decorative edge {optional}.

#2

Stamp it anyway you like!

#3

Punch two holes near the top about 3/4″ apart.

#4

Fill with your chosen treats!

String the linen thread through the holes and tie in a knot, then tie another knot but don’t pull it tight. Place the twigs within the circle of thread and tighten the knot. Knot it again. Tie in a bow, if you like.

#6

Add a leaf with a name or initial. This is an optional step.

** You could also decoupage real fall leaves on this bag or cut out printed leaves and glue them to the bag. The options are endless!!

Now, go get your craft on and drag out those fall decorations!! :0)

  1. So many great ideas here Tiffany! Kraft paper? Perfect. Love the touch it added. Staining the pallet pieces really added so great color and then contrasting it with the white. So my style! Great job.

  2. this looks great! I love all the wood detail and how you chose to go with a dark stain rather than a medium tone wood stain. The decor and color scheme match your walls beautifully.
